What is the goSmithsonian Trek?

The goSmithsonian Trek is a mobile game that will take you through some of the top attractions at nine Smithsonian museums on the National Mall. Playable from any iPhone or Android mobile device, it is an interactive game of clues and location-based riddles that need to be solved.

What do I need to play this game?

The game can be played from any iPhone or Android phone. You can play for free by downloading the "SCVNGR" app from the iPhone App Store or Android Market. You will be able to see images and maps during the course of the game, send pictures and share your adventures of playing the game with your friends.

Is it free to play?

The SCVNGR iPhone and Android applications are free. Please check with your mobile carrier if you have any questions.

How do I sign up to play?

Download the free SCVNGR App from the iPhone App Store or Android Market
Login to the app by putting in a First Name, Last Name and Email Address
Tap on the "Treks" tab, located on the edge of the screen
Tap "goSmithsonian Trek" on the list of treks
If the "goSmithsonian Trek" does not appear in the list of available treks, tap the search bar and type in "goSmithsonian"
Once in the trek, the player taps on whichever museum he or she wishes to explore and can start playing

What museums are included in the game?

The Smithsonian Castle, the National Museum of the American Indian, the Smithsonian African Art Museum, the National Air and Space Museum, the Freer Gallery, the Sackler Gallery, the National Museum of American History, the National Museum of Natural History, and the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden.

When can I play?

The goSmithsonian Trek is available anytime. We recommend that you play the game while in the museums for a more enjoyable gaming experience. Click here to visit our frequently asked questions page to check for extended evening hours at some of the Smithsonian museums.

What if I get stuck or the app isn't working properly?
