Tips
Just off the atrium, view three early mail-carrying airplanes: a 1936 Stinson Reliant, a 1919 de Havilland DH-4B and a 1911 Wiseman-Cooke biplane.
Kids will enjoy the story of the postal mascot, Owney, the stray dog who was adopted by the Railway Mail Service and traveled by railway car thousands of miles across the United States. Postal employees fed and cared for the little pup all along the way.
Directions
From the Union Station Metro stop, take the escalator up to street level to the southwest corner of Union Station. Turn right and directly across 1st Street, NE, is the museum entrance. The museum’s information desk is located in the lobby to the right of the entrance.
