IMAX® Theater

Smithsonian Theaters are out of this world!
Experience flight in the museum’s six-story high Lockheed Martin IMAX® Theater, or travel to the edge of our universe in the Albert Einstein digital dome Planetarium.

Climb aboard the museum’s state-of-the-art simulators and thrill to the interactive speed and adventure. Choose between a ride simulator or test your piloting skills and take the controls in the interactive units. 

Interactive simulators $8.00.  Flight simulators $7.00. 
 

Moving Beyond Earth

Tips

Smithsonian members are eligible for discounts at the Albert Einstein Planetarium, the Lockheed Martin IMAX Theater and the Smithsonian stores.

Avoid lines at the IMAX theater and Einstein Planetarium. Purchase tickets at www.si.edu/imax or call toll-free 866-868-7774 or 202-633-8850 (TTY).

Take a tour. Meet at the welcome center at 10:30 or 1:00 for a 90-minute highlights tour with a knowledgeable guide.

Getting Around

Escalators are located on both sides of “Milestones of Flight.” Four elevators, in the store and in Galleries 105, 109 and 107, are also available.

East or West? Which is Best?

To see rockets and space flight exhibits, visit the galleries in the east side of the building. Airplanes and aviation are on the west side.

Albert Einstein Planetarium

Witness the phenomenon of "Black Holes" or take a "Journey to the Stars." Films start every half-hour.
