Housed in a unique underground building, the Arthur M. Sackler Gallery maintains a collection of Asian art from the ancient to the contemporary. The gallery opened in 1987 with a gift of nearly 1,000 artworks from collector Arthur M. Sackler (1913-1987).

"Falnama: The Book of Omens" (Oct. 24, 2009-Jan. 24, 2010). Notable for their monumental size, these illustrated texts with brilliantly painted compositions were used throughout the Islamic world as tools to foretell the future during the 16th and 17th centuries.
