The National Air and Space Museum, the most-visited museum in the world, is home to hundreds of must-see icons from the history of flight and space exploration. On display is the very first Wright brothers airplane, the Apollo 11 lunar module and hundreds of other historic finds like the spacesuits worn by the first humans to go to the moon. The museum's other location, the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center, near Washington Dulles International Airport in Northern Virginia, showcases still more one-of-a-kind items—the space shuttle Enterprise and the Enola Gay, for example.

Check out the Albert Einstein Planetarium. On the second floor, "Cosmic Collisions," narrated by Robert Redford, explores the hypersonic impacts that drive the dynamic evolution of the universe. See "The Stars Tonight," a free planetarium presentation at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
Take a tour. Meet at the welcome center at 10:30 and 1:00 for 90-minute highlights tours with knowledgeable guides.
